Recommended Attraction in Hiroshima |Half-day Trip to The World Heritage - Itsukushima Shinto Shrine With Routes, Food and Tourist Attractions Information!

🚊 Transportation to Itsukushima Shinto Shrine

It requires 2 different vehicles from Hiroshima to Miyajima. First take the tram or JR train from Hiroshima Station to Miyajimaguchi Station, walk to the Miyajimaguchi pier, then take the Miyajima steamship or JR West Miyajima Ferry to the destination.

We recommend taking JR to Miyajimaguchi Station, then transfer to JR West Miyajima Ferry which takes only 30 minutes.

Buying the designated JR PASS for Kansai area allows you to take the JR West Miyajima Ferry for free!

For JR PASS redemption tutorial please refer to the link at the end of the article.

⛩️Tori in The Sea - Itsukushima Shinto Shrine

During high tide, you can see the mysterious and solemn red torii in the middle of the sea, making it a local popular photo spot!

It is possible to walk to the beach for a closer and better view at low tide.

Tidal information of the day is shown beside the ticket counter for tourists’ reference.

The shrine architecture is built based on royal mansion “Shinden” style during Heian Period.
Structures are connected with corridors.

Entering the eastern corridor beside the entrance, you can feel the sacred atmosphere.

The corridor is connected to the oldest existing wood bridge (Soribashi), which is categorized in the list of Japan National Important Cultural Properties.

Using vermilion as the dominant color, the structure combines with Seto Inland Sea and emerald green trees is just like being in the wonderland.

This is definitely something you can’t miss in Hiroshima!

❤️Friendly Reminder: Please check the tidal information before heading.
