Iwakura Cave, a natural monument of Okayama Prefecture, is a limestone cave formed over time by rainwater erosion, stretching approximately 1,200 meters in length. Tsuyama Castle, a hilltop castle built by Mori Tadamasu on Mt. Tsuruyama, was dismantled during the Meiji period following the abolition of castles. Okayama Korakuen is a daimyo garden built during the Edo period by Ikeda Tsunamasa, the feudal lord of Okayama. The garden features expansive lawns, ponds, tea houses, and is designed as a “strolling garden” that allows visitors to enjoy the scenery while walking. Historical structures such as the lord’s residence Enyōtei and a Noh stage are also preserved within the garden. The Okayama Prefectural Museum was established to collect, preserve, and pass down cultural heritage from prehistoric, ancient, and early modern periods, while displaying representative artifacts.
