Taiji is known as the “Whale Town,” with a 400-year history of whaling. The local Whale Museum is a unique facility rarely seen elsewhere in Japan, dedicated to introducing and preserving whale-related knowledge. Combining elements of both a museum and an aquarium, it showcases the culture, history, and ecological aspects of whaling.
