Introduction|Tsuyama Castle(Kakuzan Park)& Tsuyama Tourist Center

Tsuyama Castle, a hilltop castle built by Mori Tadamasu on Mt. Tsuruyama, was dismantled during the Meiji period following the abolition of castles. However, its impressive stone walls, standing up to 45 meters tall, remain well preserved, showcasing the castle’s former grandeur. The castle ruins have been transformed into Tsuruyama Park, home to approximately 1,000 cherry blossom trees. Every spring, the park attracts many visitors for flower viewing, earning it a spot among Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots. The site is also recognized as one of Japan’s Top 100 Historic Castles. Nearby, the Tsuyama Tourist Center offers a variety of local specialties and souvenirs from northern Okayama, making it an excellent place for visitors to shop.
