As a symbol of Wakayama City, Wakayama Castle is one of Japan’s “Three Great Hirayama Castles,” alongside Himeji Castle and Matsuyama Castle. This iconic structure, built by combining flatland and hill terrain, features a three-story white-walled main keep that offers panoramic views of Wakayama City from the top. In spring, around 600 cherry trees bloom within the castle grounds, creating a breathtaking scene. Wakayama Castle is also listed among the “Top 100 Castles in Japan,” making it a popular destination that blends rich history with natural beauty.

- At Wakayama Castle, the “Have Fun in Wakayama” cannot be used to exchange for the admission ticket. Please exchange your ticket in advance at the Wakayama City Tourist Information Center near Wakayama Station before heading to Wakayama Castle.
- At the Wakayama City Tourist Information Center (located in the ‘Wakachika Plaza’ by taking the elevator from the central ticket gate of JR Wakayama Station), please show your QR code to exchange for the Wakayama Castle entrance ticket and a castle commemorative seal (in paper form).
