Do you know there are two miniature museum in Japan? One is in Tokyo, another one is in Okinawa. You can find different features in these two museums!
This time, we are going to introduce the Little Universe Museum in Okinawa, which was opened in April, 2024.
How to go to the Little Universe Museum?
Upon arriving at Ashibinaa Airport, head to the bus stop to take either the TK02 or No. 95 bus. You will reach the museum in approximately 20 to 35 minutes.
It is located on the 3rd floor of the iias Okinawa Toyosaki Aquarium Building. There are direction signs to help you find the museum easily!
Let’s enter the mystery tunnel and explore Okinawa’s Litttle Universe together!
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Similar to Tokyo, there are also EVA scenes here, where you can watch the launch of the Evangelion Unit-01 and relive the emotions from that moment.
There is also a giant Evangelion Unit-01 that you can take a photo with!
Ryukyu Kingdom
Next, we go to the Okinawa-exclusive exhibition area, Ryukyu Kingdom!

This miniature model was created based on the ‘Shuri Naha Panorama Map,’ recreating the scene of the Chinese diplomatic delegation visiting and heading to Shurijo Castle.
You can see the red-roofed buildings, village, and landscape from the 15th to 19th century.
In addition, the Shurijo Castle, which was destroyed by a fire in 2019 and is currently being rebuilt, can also be viewed here.
Retro Tokyo
This place recreates the appearance of Azabu Juban in Minato, Tokyo, during the 1980s. Take your time to experience the unique atmosphere of the Showa era and the nostalgic streetscape.
If you don’t look closely, you might miss the incredibly adorable mini model!
The Kaleid Scope

This exhibition area feels like stepping into a kaleidoscope, with dazzling and captivating dynamic images constantly appearing.
Just standing there, you can’t help but become immersed in the beauty of the scene.
The Souvenir Shop
Before you leave, don’t forget to explore the souvenir shop. It offers a variety of merchandise that you won’t want to miss!
3D Model Experience
※Extra fee is required in this area.
Last but not least, there is a 3D model experience where you can create your own 3D model.
First, step into the scanning machine and strike a super cool pose. Then, check to see if it’s perfect!
It’s done once you check out your fascinating image!
Download the designated app to view the virtual figure you just created.
Additionally, you can place the virtual figure in mini scenes and take a photo with it. You’ll feel like you’re in the real location!
If you want to receive the mini model you created, it may take up to a month.
You can choose to have it mailed (within Japan at your own expense), pick it up yourself, or become part of the mini world for one year.
After touring all the areas in the Little Universe, I can honestly say that everyone who visits Okinawa will not want to miss this amazing place!
There are surprises at every corner, along with a series of interactive activities. It’s truly suitable for both adults and children!
