Okayama Korakuen is a daimyo garden built during the Edo period by Ikeda Tsunamasa, the feudal lord of Okayama. The garden features expansive lawns, ponds, tea houses, and is designed as a “strolling garden” that allows visitors to enjoy the scenery while walking. Historical structures such as the lord’s residence Enyōtei and a Noh stage are also preserved within the garden. It is ranked among Japan’s Three Great Gardens, along with Kairakuen in Mito and Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and has been designated a National Special Place of Scenic Beauty.
