Introduction ｜Osaka Castle Gozabune

A moat cruise around Osaka Castle takes approximately 20 minutes and offers a rare opportunity to admire the castle from the inner moat. Experience the “Golden Ship – Osaka Castle Gozabune” with the spirit of a ruler of the land!

This Osaka Castle Gozabune is a reconstruction inspired by Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s “Osaka Folding Screens” depicted in the folding screen of Osaka during the Toyotomi era, preserved at Eggenberg Castle in Austria. The site of Osaka Castle was originally Osaka Honganji Temple, whose Buddhist altars were covered in gold leaf. Like the golden tea room of Hideyoshi and Sen no Rikyū, Hideyoshi had a profound love for gold.

When the sunset reflects on Osaka Castle, the castle gleams with golden light, earning it the nickname “Kinjo” (Golden Castle / Nishiki Castle). Since 2015, commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Summer Siege of Osaka, the Gozabune has been lavishly adorned with gold leaf to honor the Toyotomi family and the soldiers of that era, creating a dazzling golden glow.

  3. Due to weather conditions (such as strong winds), sailings may be reduced or canceled. Please check the official website for the latest sailing status. Therefore, ticket sales will be available until one hour from now.
  4. Ticket redemption is only available at the ticket counter on the day of your visit. (Phone reservations or other methods are not accepted.)
  5. Boarding is subject to a capacity limit, and you will not be able to board if the vessel is full. Tickets can only be used when there are available seats.※ For ticket availability on the day of your visit, please contact 080-3764-3773 (direct line to the ticket office).
  6. Usually, three boats are in operation, with departures every 10 minutes.However, due to weather conditions or vessel maintenance, operations may be reduced to 1–2 boats, with departures every 15–30 minutes.
  7. Please show your QR code at the ticket counter. We will provide boarding tickets for the designated departure.
  8. Cancellations are not permitted after ticket exchange.
  9. Children (junior high school age or younger) may not use the service on their own.
