To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon Red and Green, Pokémon has teamed up with Japanese toy company Takara Tomy to release a 1:1 life-size plush of the original round-shaped “Chubby Pikachu.” This plush recreates the life-size design from 1997, faithfully restoring Pikachu’s classic chubby look rather than the slimmer proportions seen in recent years.

The size also faithfully matches Pikachu’s official height listed in the Pokédex, measuring approximately 40 cm tall. It is so cute you cannot help but want to hug it tightly. However, Chubby Pikachu sold out quickly after pre-orders opened on January 16. A restock notification sign-up will be available starting March 5, so interested fans should keep an eye out!
